Welcome to Creator Congress’s inaugural substack!
We’ll be sharing information about the latest academic research on creators & content creation, memes (because we can), trends, news, and the latest updates about Creator Congress.
This week in Creator news:
Spotify is looking for ways to pay creators to add video content to their platform, further proof of the supremacy of video content and they are paying “a lot”. Realm of 7 figures so if you have always dreamed of starting your own show, maybe Spotify is the place to pitch.
A study released this week on the efficacy of contraception content on social media confirms healthcare providers are some of the most trusted sources for information and that contraception use is down among young people, making it critical for people (especially those concerned with reproductive rights and access) to use these platforms to share trusted information and reach young people.
A mysterious influencer group has been pushing sexual smears about Kamala Harris which is indicative of why creator organizing behind closed doors can be such a problem. A lack of transparency in this space can lead to shady backroom deals about spreading disinformation - potentially undermining the credibility of other creators as a trusted news source.
Hiring creators as the newest wedding trend? Not sure anyone should want to go into the wedding industry but if you have always wanted to, now might be your chance.
